There have been a couple warm(er) days here, so I’m guessing that’s how I caught it. I need to shake the wintery blues out of me, and the only cure is to spruce up our home with a little redecorating. Or, in the case of this room, just decorating. The room in our house that leads out to the backyard is completely empty. The previous owners had left us with some beautifully ugly textured wallpaper, that was painted an orangey-red colour. Thankfully, my dad fixed that problem and covered up the wallpaper (as there was no hope to remove it) with some 1/4″ drywall. This is perfect for 2 reasons; 1. We no longer have to look at an ugly room and 2. We have a blank canvas.
That’s where this little mood board I created comes in:
I have so many ideas as to how I want this room to look. I want to turn it into a den/library; a place to snuggle up and read a book, but also be part office, so making room for a computer is key too. I’m sure you can tell from the board above that I want the focus to be grey and white, with hints of light blue. I also want the furniture to be sleek, not bulky, both for style and practicality (because the room itself is not very big). I love the idea of painting the back of the bookcases a colour, in this case light blue, because it allows for the items to pop off the shelves and be noticed, instead of blending into the white background.
I’m sure this will be the first of many mood boards to come. I already have so many ideas for the dining room, so that will most likely be next. I will keep you posted when this board comes to life!
