she’s here!!

Last week our little baby girl showed up, right on her due date! 39 hours of labour later (from the start of the easy peasy tiny contractions to the time she showed up), I was able to hold her in my arms. I can’t even begin to describe the feeling of finally meeting her, finally being able to see who has been kicking me awake for the past 9 months, finally being able to see and touch my daughter. An over abundance of love is all that comes to mind. It was an amazing experience, and I feel lucky to have been given this wonderful gift.

It’s been a week now and we are still getting into the swing of things. I know that will come with time, but I think that Jose and I are both doing a great job considering we have never really been around babies before. In fact, our first ever diaper changing experience was that night at the hospital. We have since become pro’s because man do babies poop! Either way, I am loving every minute. Even when I am trying to get her back to sleep after a 3am feeding. She actually isn’t really a fussy baby, so I can’t complain.

As for her name, I have decided not to share. Not yet anyway. Maybe one day I will change my mind, but for now I am in mama protector mode and can’t help but think ‘you never know who is reading this’. I’ve been wracking my mind trying to come up with a cute blog nickname for her, but that’s really hard to do when she’s only a week old and her personality isn’t exactly jumping out yet. I mean, we could go with “obsessed with boobs & milk”, but it just doesn’t have that nice of a ring to it. Whenever we swaddle her, which is our favourite thing to do because she looks so cute and snuggly, I always say to her that she is as snug as a bug. So I think that will be it. Bug. My little Bug. My Bugaboo. The Bug.

So now that that’s all cleared up, let’s move on to photos! Jose grabbed a few good ones of her after the delivery, you can check them out over on his blog, but I wanted to share a couple here as well.

She definitely looks like her daddy. Even has his frown. Poor thing 🙂

I haven’t had any time to grab my camera and take any photos, but today that will change! I have decided to do a weekly photo project of Bug. I am a couple days behind on photo number 1, but hey I’m a new mom. I’ve been busy!
