my girl | 2 months

Today is Bug’s 2 month birthday!! Everyone knows that time goes by fast, but when you have a baby it seems that time goes into overdrive. Maybe it’s because everyone always asks how old she is, so her time is always being counted. It makes you realize that a week has gone by, whereas before she was born I never even thought to count the weeks. Know what I mean? The fact that Bug has been with us for 2 months now just blows my mind! I was going through some photos and videos of her when she was just born, and not gonna lie it totally got me all sentimental. I can’t even imagine when she goes to school the first time, graduates, goes to college…and don’t even get  me started thinking about her moving out! I’ve already decided that I will be going with her. Finger’s crossed she’s cool with that.

On the weekend, we went for a walk down by the lakeshore close to our house and I snapped a few photos of her. Even though I don’t want her to grow up too fast, I can’t wait until she is old enough to hold her head up. It will make picture taking a lot more fun. I’m still glad that I shot these though, even if she is just laying around. Bug is usually in pj’s all day, so it’s nice to have a few “fancy” photos of her.

I LOVE the photo below of Bug and me. I don’t feel like there is that many photos of the two of us together, especially since I’m the one following her around with the camera. So I’m super glad Jose sneaked this one of her and I while I tried to calm her down after she freaked out when we tried to pose her in a super uncomfortable cliche baby pose got a little cranky.

Jose finds it hilarious to do this circle of life pose. He has put our cat, Cleo, through it a few times. Now it’s Bug’s turn. She looks just as thrilled as Cleo does…

My mom happened to be on a walk and ran into us. She snapped this family photo of us.

Sleeping: Bug is a pretty good sleeper. She has her fussy moments, but really, I shouldn’t complain. On average, she sleeps 5-6 hours straight throughout the night, and has about 3 naps a day. Not to mention the times she just dozes off from being bored with me. She currently goes to bed after her evening feeding, so around 9ish, but she doesn’t really fall asleep until after her midnight feeding. As a result, she is more sleepy in the morning. I can’t keep the girl awake if I tried. I am trying my hardest to adjust bedtime to be earlier. No luck yet.

Body: Weighs around 10 pounds 4 ounces. Last time we were at the doctors she was in the 90th percentile for both height and weight. Not that I have any idea what that means…. But good to know, I guess? Oh! And her baby acne seems to be all cleared up! Just in time for baby prom, phew!

Eating: Bug eats like a champ! She put herself on a 3 hour schedule. But lately there has been some 4 hour gaps, which is nice for me because then I can actually get some things done around the house. Although, let’s face it. That just means an extra hour of me staring at her and telling her how cute she is.

Mood: She is so smiley!! I love it. However, whenever the camera or iphone comes out that smile disappears pretty quickly. I hope she learns soon that the camera won’t hurt her (like she thought it was going to for week 5 of her weekly photos) and it’s ok to smile at it. Luckily for us, she rarely gets fussy. When she does it’s just because she is hungry or sleepy. Most of the time anyway. I find that I can take her anywhere, she is very easy going in that sense. Jose and I even went to a couple parties a few weekends ago, and she didn’t make a peep. I think she is a people watcher, like her mama. Keeps us both occupied.

Milestones: Smiling is the newest trick she learned, so we are having lotsa fun with that. She is starting to figure out how to hold her head up a little. I feel like she will get the hang of that in no time. Also, I’ve caught her sucking her thumb (kinda) a couple times. I’m just not sure if that’s on purpose though, or if it just happened to land in her mouth when she is thrashing her arms around.

As I say, and think, a million times a day – we really are so lucky. Not just because she is a healthy happy baby, but we are just so lucky to have her in our lives. And I am appreciative every day that she is.
